Yes! Archies Flip Flops can be worn by people that do not have any issues with their feet or lower limbs. In fact, while Archies Flip Flops are the perfect complimentary device to people who wear orthotics, many of the people who wear Archies Flip Flops do not have foot issues or wear orthotics. It is also important to remember, that the problems relating to the design of typical flat flip flops are not just limited to having no support. Other issues such as having loose straps and having no heel elevation are also fundamental design flaws. Archies Flip Flops are the perfect for people who like having the feeling of increased support or for those that just want a super comfortable flip flop!
Archies Flip Flops will not fix your plantar fasciitis, however, it is likely that they may be a more suitable alternative to wearing typical flat flip flops. The orthotic / arch support in Archies Flip Flops may assist in taking some load off the plantar fascia which may help to provide a more optimal healing environment when compared with flat flip flops. Many of the Podiatrist and other Health Professionals that stock Archies Flip Flops in their practices recommend them to their patients as a complimentary device to their orthotics and other supportive footwear. Rather than walking around on the hard tiles and floor boards, Archies Flip Flops are great to wear around the house as a slipper to support and take some load off the plantar fascia.
Archies Flip Flops will not “fix” any problem for you. However, if poor biomechanics and foot postural issues are a contributing factor to your injury and you wear typical flat flip flops, then it is possible that Archies Flip Flops may help to improve foot posture and lower limb biomechanics potentially allowing a more optimal healing environment to occur.
While this cannot be applied to every single person who wears orthotics, the typical answer is ‘yes’, Archies Flip Flops are fine to be worn by people who wear orthotics.
Many Podiatrists and Health Care Professionals that stock Archies Flip Flops recommend them as an ‘in and around the house slipper’. Rather than walking around bare feet in and around the house, wearing Archies Flip Flops when you are not wearing your orthotics allows you to get substantial support through the day whilst giving your feet a much needed break and some fresh air!
If you have flat feet, unless you are used to wearing orthotics with a substantial amount of support, then you may find that the high arch model has too much support. In our experience, the standard arch support model is a better option for people with flat feet. The standard arch support model still contains legitimate orthotic support, but it won’t feel as much like there is a ‘lump’ underneath the foot, which is what you would experience if you were to choose the high arch support model.
Yes of course, Archies Flip Flops are fine to be worn by children. Unless your child is used to wearing orthotics with a substantial amount of support, then they may find that the high arch model has too much support. Typically speaking, children under the age of 15 years are better suited to our standard arch model. This is because a child’s arch is not yet fully developed and the high support model may feel like there is a ‘lump’ underneath the foot. The standard arch still contains substantial orthotic / arch support and is likely to be a better choice for your child. If you have any further questions or concerns on this matter, then please consult with your local health care professional.
Currently, we do not make children’s sizes. However, it is in the pipeline! At the moment the smallest size that we make in Archies Flip Flops is a size 5, which is 23cm in length. A foot measurement of anything less than 22cm will be too small to correctly fit Archies Flip Flops.
Most flip flop straps are made from hard plastic which commonly causes irritation between the toes. Archies Flip Flops are a one-piece construction and are made out of a soft foam material. While this cannot be applied to every person, we have certainly found that many people who cannot normally wear flip flops due to finding the toe pole (the thing between your toes) irritating, can wear Archies Flip Flops with no issues because of the soft foam material.
It is true, when Archies Flip Flops get wet, they can squeak. If the squeaking is bothering you, there is a solution. Stop, dry your flip flops and feet with a towel, haha! On a serious note, we do not live in a perfect world and unfortunately when the material found in Archies Flip Flops gets wet, it can cause squeaking, however the solution provided will fix this for you. There are some instances where sweaty feet can cause the squeaking. If sweaty feet are a common issue for you and it is causing squeaking with your Archies Flip Flops, then one solution is to get some coarse sandpaper and try to ‘rough’ up the surface. Hopefully this should help.
When Archies Flip Flops are brand new they can feel a little slippery at first. Do not worry, this wears off very quickly and after a few wears Archies Flip Flops develop a nice rubber like texture (even though the flip flops do not contain rubber) which has a very comfortable feel under your feet.
To this point in time we have not received any reports of any one sweating in Archies Flip Flops any more than what they would in a normal flip flop.
Archies Flip Flops are made from a specialised foam material, similar to that of the midsole of most runners. They do not contain rubber or latex.
To the best of our knowledge, we have not had any reports of Archies Flip Flops leaving black marks on floors. However, for the sake of being cautious, if you have a floor surface that you are concerned about marking, then it is advisable not to wear Archies Flip Flops on this surface.
Archies Flip Flops are made in Thailand.
We have an excellent ‘family’ like relationship with our factory speaking with them on a daily basis. Our Archies team visit the factory at least once every two months. The conditions for our workers at the factory are of the highest standard. Workers work 5 days a week from 8:00am to 5:00pm as well as occasional weekends in the busy periods. Workers take all Thai National Holidays as well as their entitled 2 weeks leave per year plus an additional 7 days per year leave with pay. The workers are entitled to 30 days paid sick leave. All workers are paid the national Thai wage rates for such work with some of the more specialised workers being paid higher rates. One of our favourite parts of visiting the factory is seeing the workers faces when we buy them their favourite food… KFC!
There is no exact answer to this, because the durability of a pair of Archies Flip Flops depends on many different factors, such as frequency of use, type of use, the surface that they are commonly worn on, product care and so on. We have witnessed people wear the same pair of Archies Flip Flops for over 5 years.
However, our general advice, is that with proper care, you should get one full summer of excellent use. After the first year the lifespan depends on the factors previously discussed. While we believe that the wear of Archies Flip Flops is excellent, at the end of the day they still are just flip flops (very special flip flops though!) and after considerable use they will eventually start to wear down and out. Our warranty covers the flip flops for up to three (3) months from receipt of the goods. For more information please see our Returns and Warranty section of this website.
Yes. Despite the fact that we have set out to make Archies Flip Flops as strong as we possibly can, unfortunately Archies Flip Flops are not indestructible and it is possible to break them.
To minimise the chances of this happening, when you are not wearing your flip flops, avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or high temperatures (e.g uncovered in the back of a car!). Leaving the flip flops subject to prolonged sun exposure and high temperatures can cause the material to shrink making the material brittle and increasing the risk of breakage.
We recommend that you reserve the use of Archies Flip Flops for normal walking only and avoid activities that put undue strain on the flip flops, such as running, playing outdoor sports or jumping around at music concerts. It is not advisable to walk down steep hills in wet feet wearing Archies Flip Flops as this can stretch the strap and increase the risk of breakage of the toe pole.
For full information on what to do in the event of Archies Flip Flops breaking, please see the Returns and Warranty section of this website.
When you are not wearing your Archies Flip Flops, you should avoid leaving them where they will be exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight. This is the single most important piece of product care information we can give to you! Leaving Archies Flip Flops uncovered in high temperatures and/or on hot surfaces, such as in a hot car or directly in sunlight may adversely affect the flip flops material which can cause them to warp and/or shrink. Second, as with all products, the sun can cause the colour to fade and make the material more brittle.
So if you want to get the best out of your Archies Flip Flops, when not wearing them, such as when swimming or sunbaking, we recommend to keep them covered with a towel or other clothing item and never leave your Archies Flip Flops uncovered in a hot car.
If your Archies Flip Flops get dirty, they can be very easily cleaned with a green scourer or other scrubbing brush. Warm water is all that is required to do this but of course warm soapy water will do a better job. Simply dry the flip flops after giving them a good scrub and they should come up very clean.
IMPORTANT! Some people have some ‘interesting’ ways of cleaning their flip flops, such as putting them in a dish washer or washing machine. The high temperature of a dishwasher can cause the flip flops to shrink and the straps can get caught in the washing machine causing damage. Washing with a scourer or scrubbing brush is all that is required to clean your Archies Flip Flops.
Your pair of Archies Flip Flops come attached together by a plastic connector. If you pull the plastic connector to break the plastic apart, this may cause the plastic to cut into the strap. It is important that when you separate your Archies that you either disconnect the plastic attachment or cut it with scissors.
Simply put, due to manufacturing variance, not all pairs of Archies Flip Flops are perfectly the same length and the length can vary from flip flop to flip flop, even though they have the same size number on them.
Also, just because you are normally a certain size in your regular flip flops or shoes, this does not necessarily mean that you will be the same size in Archies Flip Flops!
If you are a new Archies Flip Flops customer, an accurate measurement your foot length is by far the best way to get the correct size.
By providing us with an accurate measurement of your foot length, our warehouse team will carefully hand pick a flip flop which will be custom suited to the length of your foot which will see the orthotic sit in the correct position. When we have an accurate measurement of your foot length, we almost always get the size perfect!
If you are a new customer, the best process to get perfectly fitted to a pair of Archies Flip Flops is to always measure your foot length, however, there will of course be times when this is not possible such as when buying a present for someone.
In the event that you cannot provide us with measurements and you only provide us with your size number, then we will simply send you a flip flop that is a ‘true / correct’ length in that size as per the Archies Flip Flops Size Conversion Chart. This is accurate as the flip flops we send will be exactly as per the Size Chart.
Note: in the circumstances that your 2nd toe is substantially bigger than your big toe, then measure to your second toe. If you have one foot bigger than the other, then measure your biggest foot.
Have you ever tried on a dress, a pair of jeans or some shoes that did not fit you, only to have the shop assistant bring out exactly the same size as the one you tried before and have it fit you perfectly? It is the same with Archies Flip Flops.
Simply put, due to manufacturing variance, not all pairs of Archies Flip Flops are perfectly the same length and the length can vary from flip flop to flip flop, even though they have the same size number written on them. So just relying on the size number of your last pair of flip flops is NOT always accurate. For example, the size of a size 7 US Mens should be 25.0cm. However it is not uncommon to get one size 7 which may measure 25.3cm and the next size 7 may measure 24.7cm. While this is only a very small variation from the correct size, this leads to a total of 6mm difference in the size of the two pairs despite them both having size 7 written on them. This can have an effect on getting the best possible fit for you!
When you provide us with an accurate measurement of your old flip flop, our warehouse will search to find a flip flop that is exactly the same length as your last pair, giving you the perfect fit each and every time you order online!
So if you are serious about getting the correct size of your Archies Flip Flops, then please measure!
If you do not provide us with an accurate measurement of your existing Archies Flip Flops and you only provide us with the size number of your/their last pair, then we will simply send you a flip flop that is the ‘true / correct’ length in that size as per the Archies Flip Flops size conversion chart.
However, by not providing us with an accurate measurement of your current Archies Flip Flop length, you risk getting flip flop that is not the same length as your last flip flop.
So again, if you are serious about getting your fit correct, where possible, please measure.
This is certainly advisable. In the instance that you are a new Archies Flip Flops customer, the best thing to do is to measure your foot length as per the instructions here.
One exception to this rule is if you can try on a friend’s pair of Archies Flip Flops and they fit you perfectly, then if you measure the length of their Archies Flip Flops we can use these measurements to get your fit perfect.
If you can get the measurement accurate, then we can send you a flip flop that is a perfect match to this pair.
No, we do not make flip flops that are a different width.
While we do not make Archies Flip Flops that are of a different width, if you can tell us whether or not you have a wide, narrow or average width foot then we can choose a flip flop with a strap that will be more suited to the shape of your foot and we can also manipulate the strap in our warehouse to better suit your foot shape. If you do not know if you have a wide, narrow or regular width foot, DO NOT STRESS, we will just send you a flip flop with a strap that is of normal tightness.
We do not make flip flops that are of a different width and Archies Flip Flops are a reasonably narrow fitting flip flop. The reason that we ask for a description of your foot width is so that our warehouse can manipulate the flip flop strap to better suit the shape of your foot giving you a more customised fit, however this has nothing to do with us providing flip flops that are of varying widths.
No, please do not send us a measurement of your foot width as this will NOT help us. Simply selecting one of the options on the ordering page of a wide, narrow or regular foot width description is sufficient.
Most people who have a wide or narrow foot typically know that they have this foot type. If you do not know which type of foot width you have it is likely that you have a regular width foot. This not a big decision so do not stress about it.
If you do not know if you have a wide, regular or narrow foot, simply select regular width or unsure on the ordering page and we will send you a flip flop that is of normal strap tightness.
Archies Flip Flops have been designed with a tighter strap than normal flip flops. This is because in flip flops with a loose strap, the toes claw down in an attempt to keep the flip flops on the feet. Normally when you walk your toes are supposed to point / bend upwards. When the toes point / bend upwards, this activates the arch of the foot which helps provide protection and support to the vital structures of the feet. When the toes claw down such as when trying to keep the flip flops on the feet, the arch does not activate correctly which means that you do not get the protective support from the arch of the foot. This can leave the foot tired and achy, vulnerable to stress and potential injury. The tighter strap found in Archies Flip Flops may help to reduce toe clawing which may enable you to walk more naturally.
It is important to know that if the strap feels a little too tight at first, do not worry, the strap is very elastic, within a few days of wear, the strap will gradually stretch and mould to the shape of your feet. However, if the strap continues to feel too tight
Before stretching the strap, inspect on the of the strap for a joining line. of the strap for a joining line. Occasionally, a joining line will be present and is indicated by a faint line through the underside of the strap. While the strap is very strong, if you stretch the strap directly on a joining line, it can break, so never stretch the strap directly on a joining line! See the below photo of a joining line:
To stretch the strap, simply hold the strap between your fingers and in small little increments stretch each section of the strap where it feels too tight. You can do the same for the toe pole if this feels too tight. Continue to do this, trying the flip flop on and off, stretching the strap and toe pole until it has reached your desired level of tightness.
Unfortunately, over time, the strap will eventually stretch and loose some of its original tightness the same way clothing will stretch over time if you wear it a lot. The strap stretching over time is inevitable and is not a reason for product return. As previously stated, whilst the straps are very elastic, once stretched, the strap will not return to its original tightness.
At present, not all of our flip flops are marked as standard arch or high arch, however we are in the process of doing this.
In the meantime, if you have purchased a flip flop and it is not marked as either high arch or standard arch then it is very easy to tell by looking at the size system on the bottom of the flip flops because they both follow a different system. We are also in the process of converting the size systems of the standard arch so that it is the same as the high arch system, however this will not be finished for some time.
Please see the below High Arch Size Chart and the Standard Arch Size Chart:
One arch profile is not necessarily better than the other. Both arch profiles have substantial orthotic / arch support and a similar amount of support to that found in off the shelf orthotics. It’s just that the high arch support model has increased support in comparison to the standard arch support mode and one arch profile may be more suited to your foot type, personal preference and what you are used to. E.g, If you are used to wearing orthotics or other support footwear.
This is very easy and is not a big decision!
If you are used to wearing orthotics or other supportive shoes and sandals, then it is likely that you will prefer the feel of our of high arch support model.
If you are not used to wearing orthotics or supportive footwear, then our standard arch model will likely be a better choice for you.
If you have low arches / flat feet, then you will likely prefer our standard arch model, as the high arch support will likely feel that it has too much support (unless of course you are used to wearing orthotics with a lot of support).
If you have high or normal type arches, then you will be fine in either our high arch support model or our standard arch support model, it would just come down to personal preference of what you are used to and your support needs.
If unsure of which one to go with then definitely go with the standard arch support model. The standard arch support model contains legitimate orthotic / arch support, is super comfortable and almost every person absolutely loves and raves about this flip flop! You can then consider going for the high support model at another stage once your feet are used to having the support.
Regardless of which model you choose, do not stress, it’s not a big decision! Both models have substantial orthotic / arch support and it is highly likely you will be happy with whatever you choose! In the unlikely event that you choose a model and are not 100% satisfied, simply post the flip flops back to us in new / unworn condition and we will happily send you a replacement pair in the other model free of charge. To prevent misuse of this offer, return postage of the original pair is at the expense of the customer, but we will happily pay for the postage on the replacement pair.
Most people put on Archies Flip Flops and they find them to be instantly and unbelievably comfortable! However, for some people, getting used to the support can take some time and in some occasions you may even experience some soreness. So in the unlikely event your Archies Flip Flops are not instantly comfortable, do not worry, after several days of wear, the flip flops will gradually mould to the shape of your foot and will become much more comfortable.
If you feel you have given the flip flops a good try and they are not starting to get much more comfortable (they should be very comfortable!), then it is likely that the arch profile that you have chosen is not the right one for your foot. In this case the best thing would be to try the other arch profile and in most cases the result is an immediate improvement in comfort level! However, if any soreness or pain continues to persist, then please contact your health care professional.

Archies Flip flops are unisex flip-flops, we do not have a separate size system for men and women. Archies Flip flops sizing runs very true to your normal US running shoe size (for both men and women), so we suggest to select that for your size.
If you are often different sizes in different brands, or if you have any doubts as to which size to choose and or you simply want to confirm your size selection, then we suggest to measure your foot length using the instructions below and check the recommended corresponding size via the Archies Flip Flops size conversion chart.
Using your normal ladies running shoe size, simply use the size conversion chart to help you choose your Archies Flip flops unisex size. If you do not own a pair of running shoes, just select your most common ladies shoe size.
The sizes that are marked on the bottom of the flip flop are unisex sizes.
E.g – If you order a Unisex 7 (Size US Men’s 7 / US Women’s 8), the flip flop you will receive will be marked with the unisex sizes (US 7 UK 6 EURO 40), however, it will be the exact equivalent of the women’s size (US 8 UK 5.5 EURO 39).
This does not change anything with regards to ordering. You can see the equivalent women's sizes in the size conversion chart and they are already converted for you at the checkout.
